The Labor Day Open Stage is Jazzmania Live's show for the last long weekend of summer — Sunday, September 6, 2026, the night before Labor Day. The cookouts have one more round in them, the pool is closing in a week, and the kids go back to school. Spend the evening at the waterfalls.
The show is a Pittsburgh tradition wrapped around a national one — Labor Day is the working person's holiday, and Jazzmania Live is a working ensemble. Jazzmania holds the rhythm section and core lineup, with room for guest players, sit-in artists, and developing musicians from across the Pittsburgh jazz community. The format makes for a different show every time, and the Labor Day edition tends to draw the biggest crowd of the late season.
Free admission, no tickets required. Bring a folding chair, a blanket, a sweater for after sundown, snacks, and the kids. The earlier 5:00 – 7:00 PM start time accounts for the shorter September daylight. Streams live and free on The Encore for anyone who can't make it to South Park.
